Awaawaroa Bay Eco Village Field Day

182 Awaawaroa Road, RD 1, Waiheke Island | Sunday 14 May, 10am – 2pm

Join Awaawaroa at their field day and walking tour of the eco village, including a visit to the eels, adobe earth brick house and organic garden. The field day is limited to 25 participants and involves a walk of approximately 2 km. Some of the terrain is steep and requires a reasonable level of fitness.

As a community Awaawaroa believe that ‘organic’ practices form an important part of living sustainably and contributing to a healthy eco system.

The programme for the day is as follows

10.00 am – Welcome to your group at our community building – short visual presentation about the eco village.

10.45 am – Morning tea (we would supply this)

11.15 am – 1.00 pm – Walking tour which includes:
Gulf Tree Nursery
Visit the eels/tuna (Māori word for eel)
A visit to a private home – adobe earth brick house
Visit to a private garden

1.00 pm – Lunch at the Community Building (people are asked to bring their own packed lunch – we aim for zero waste and so ask people to keep that in mind when selecting food – i.e minimal packaging)

2.00 pm – Conclusion.

Please bring a hat/raincoat/umbrella, good walking shoes, zero waste picnic lunch (we have water and tea/coffee). We have a no dogs policy to protect the native fauna.

Tickets cost $20 – to book visit https://events.humanitix.com/awaawaroa-bay-eco-village-open-day
