Urban Farm Bike Tour with UC Compost Club
180 Smith Street, Woolston, Christchurch 8062 | Saturday 6 May, 10 am
Join Soil & Health Association National Councillor Kaitlyn Lamb and the University of Canterbury Compost Club on their bike tour of urban farms in Christchurch!
The tour will begin at Smith Street Urban Farm where head farmer Georgina will give us a tour and kōrero about the farm. This will be a time to ask questions and kōrero with others in the community. At about 10:45 we will bike to Addington Urban Farm. The bike ride takes about 30 minutes (7.4 km). Wilby, the head farmer, will also give us a tour and kōrero about how the farm came to be and the community impact it has had. Afterwards there will be kai (vegan and gluten free options available).
It is a bike tour, but if you are not able or comfortable to bike you are more than welcome to take the bus or take your car. The bike trip has been planned on as many cycleways as possible and on slow, quiet roads.
