Soil & Health NZ has been working with Quorum Sense to bring you this new grassroots UK documentary, ‘Six Inches of Soil.’ It shares the inspiring story of three young British farmers who stand up against the industrial food system and transform the way they produce food to heal the soil and our health and provide for local communities. We highly recommend watching this story of courage, vision, and hope.

Six Inches of Soil will be screened nationwide during Organic Week at the following cinemas. Following each screening, most cinemas will host a Q&A or panel discussion focusing on the movie’s main themes.

Russell & Charlotte Heald farm organic and regenerative dairy with their three children and farm team in Norsewood. The Heald’s have created a low stress farming system over the past seven years since their transition to regenerative farming and once a day milking.

They’re excited to invite the public to visit their farm this Organic Week to get a feel for the environment they’ve created and develop a better understanding of the systems and practices they use.

Bring your gumboots and wet weather gear and join us in time to see the last of our cows getting milked. We will share our journey to date, introduce you to our cows and show you our soil life and pastures. You’ll get to meet our farm team and learn about the importance of team culture in our business.

Join Biodynamic NZ in the beautiful Hawkes Bay this Organic Week to celebrate the potent biodynamic community and the agriculture course birthed 100 years ago. 

The Soil, Soul, Social Centennial celebration promises to be an exciting and vibrant event. The weekend will bring people together to celebrate 100 years of Biodynamics.

The focus will be on the many incredible Biodynamic pioneers we have here in New Zealand. The keynote speaker will be Ueli Hurter, the co-head of the Agriculture Section at the Goetheanum. Ueli has been involved with the Agriculture Section since 1994 and has formerly served as President of the Swiss Demeter Association and as Swiss spokesman to Demeter International.

Earthworkers: Regenerative Horticulture 101 is an education programme that focuses on the ability of plants to heal the planet, through the microbial health in the soil and the magic of photosynthesis.

Whether you are a passionate home gardener, environmental advocate, urban farmer, market, marae or community gardener interested in restoration, regeneration and the wonder of biology by attending this course you become part of a network that is growing radical hope through food.

By the end of the course, you will have explored: 

  • the importance of utilising biology-first principles for growing food
  • the practices that support abundant biodiversity and the production of nutrient dense food. 
  • practical tools and strategies to use in your own regenerative setting
